How your belongings stay safe and dry
When Carl and his family were looking for somewhere to store their belongings, between houses, his main concern was what they would look like when he opened the door again after a few months.
The current housing market is, as you know, pretty crazy. If you can sell your property without a dependent chain, it makes life so much easier. You are in the driving seat (as long as you can find somewhere to stay) while you have a more relaxed look around for your next property.
This is exactly what Carl and his family decided to do. In between houses they were able to stay with parents meaning there was far less pressure on them to find a house immediately.
But what do you do with all your stuff when you’re staying in someone else’s house? Self-storage to the rescue.
Carl knew about the possibility of self-storage but was concerned about the extra hassle factor, how their belongings would fare not being in a house and how safe they would be.
How they stay dry
After speaking to Chris at Woodpecker Self Storage he was put entirely at ease: Chris said that the only way any damp would occur is if any belongings were damp before they went in.
Carl also paid a visit to the Woodpecker site in Nursling. Once he’d seen the units, he felt even more relaxed:
“They are in great condition, they're immaculate, with large weatherproof doors.”
Woodpecker can supply dehumidifying sticks if you’re worried, but Chris put Carl at ease so much so that the family stored everything without them: soft furnishings, clothes, bedding and mattresses.
Two vents at the front and back and five on each side increase airflow within the container preventing the stagnation of air which can create condensation.
The containers themselves are premium self-storage grade made from Corten steel. This type of steel is developed from a group of steel alloys that makes it particularly hard wearing and corrosion resistant further ensuring that your belongings stay dry.

In addition to the above, each Woodpecker container has a lock box (or cowl lock housing). This fits to the doors of your unit to cover the padlock. It encloses the padlock so it can only be reached from underneath making removal of the padlock with anything like a crow bar, impossible.
